Possible dupe with #344856 , the description sounds very similar. I got
these crashed if a root window appears on the user xorg screen like his
2009 problem. But this bug was never a problem with 10.10 here.

The i915 is an uma architecture, i seen this bug for now only with
update-manager when the progress indicator is running. Maybe the called
programm draws to much or the x server did not claim more shared memory
to allow this drawing. Switching to exa and give fixed 128mb memory can
fix this. But un
Bug was fixed with rollback to 11.04, can be closed now

Most ugly is the broken failsafe graphics at this problem, you only have
a working console to fix something. Here with a juniper 5750 the
failsafe graphis is restarting in an endless loop.

Final result, got the ubuntu logo with running dots, then the screen
goes to suspend. Aticonfig has placed a new xorg.conf, the systems can
boot to failsafe mode with lower graphics. Don't know what xorg mean
with missing fglrx, it is not the kernel module
root@agamemnon:/usr/src# lsmod | grep fgl
Step by step to perfection, the blackscreen won't disappear. The gl_conf
was on nvidia, switched that around. Now some libs seems to be missing.
>From which package can i get them?
root@agamemnon:/# ldconfig -v | grep libatiuki
/sbin/ldconfig.real: Pfad »/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu« mehrfach angegeben

Got a screen this boot, sometimes it looks well and sometimes everthing
turns black. Lot of nvidia trash here, is there a faq to wipe this out?
eric@agamemnon:/usr/lib$ sudo ldconfig -p | grep libati
[sudo] password for eric:
libatiuki.so.1 (libc6,x86-64) => /usr/lib/fglrx/libatiuki.so.1
Nvidia was purged, thank you. Now fglrx comes up clearly and i can use
the classic desktop. For me this bug i solved.

Yes now it is working, rollbacked every sarvatt package to the natty
version and get the unity desktop. Looks a bit slower than unity 10.10
on thinkpad x41 with intel i915 but it is running. Thank you

Bought the ati juniper 5750 card for more 3d power, the juniper have

The install runs into bogus, the closing "aticonfig --initial" could be
executed cause there was no /etc/a
