What happened was that about maybe two weeks ago the DisplayPorts from my DELL
D6000 Dock stopped working (but works when connecting a Windows Laptop)

I have now tried to get 15.04 up and working properly on a new disk but
did not succeed and I have no intention being part of troubleshooting
problems with 15.04 since I plan on staying on 14.04 for at least two
more years.
I do want to help troubleshooting this problem and I have nothing

I have to get another disk to test with vivid so it will take a few days
but my plan is to keep the 14.02 LTS for another few years and for the
moment does the problem occur only after a few minutes with an active
program on the desktop (if all windows are minimized does the problem

Hi,
I have hp4530s laptop with dual graphics Intel 3000 / AMD Radeon™ HD 6490M. I
followed the steps from Michael's link, it did not worked. I re-installed 12.04
then, upgraded to fresh 12.10 and followed

memory leaks ONLY when skype remote user translates its video.

Window movement/videos appear laggy/slow

Not just Nvidia driver, also open sourced driver has problem. It
happened once with my ATI too. What can i say more - 12.04 is the most
buggy release. Even with Unity 2D i had some problems but after all
Unity 2D is useless for long work. Canonical can't complain about people
switching back to Win

My assumption was just based on the (poor) visual performances and the
"Unknown" tag (shown on the System Info) that I mistakenly associated to
the graphic card.
I didn't think that the display could have been a factor on the
performances but, as you say, the system couldn't identify the exact mode
