Hello Hans,
You can just remove the vivid kernel by removing those packages that the wiki
page ask you to install.
And reboot, you will be running on Trusty kernel again.
BTW the Vivid kernel will reach EOL on Aug. 2016, see:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/LTSEnablementStack#Kernel.2BAC8-Support.
Target this bug to the kernel, as from bug 1430846, it's reported that

Hi, from the launchpad page for fglrx-installer-updates [1] the version number
is still 2:13.350.1
Could you explain why you mark it as "Fix-Released" in Trusty?
I will revert it to the status in comment #9

Hi Joeri,
it's fixed in xserver-xorg-video-ati, normally you just need to run update on
your system could get it fixed.
Or you could run "sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get dist-upgrade" command in
your terminal (Ctrl + Alt + t).

Base on the error message, I tried to install linux-generic-headers and
reinstall the driver, then link the shared object file with:
sudo ln -sf /usr/lib /usr/lib64
sudo mkdir -p /usr/X11R6/lib64/modules/dri/
sudo ln -sf /usr/lib/dri/fglrx_dri.so /usr/X11R6/lib64/modul
Hello Anthony, with the driver downloaded from ADM (version 2:14.051), it still
failed to load X on this system.
The same .so file not found error message could be found in the Xorg log.

This issue could be fixed by installing the proprietary nvidia-331
driver. Therefore I think we don't need to add the blocker tag to this.

Hello,
I found this issue has something to do with the "Enable Switchable Graphics"
option in the BIOS
If Enabled, it will make another graphical controller (Intel) available.
And this issue would happen.
If disabled, there will be only one nVidia video there, and this won't
happen.

Oh, yes, please feel free to mark this one as duplicated.
Also affects 201211-12070 Dell Vostro 5460 with nVidia GF117M [10de:1140]
With the identical syndrome.
I was wondering if all I+N systems are affected.
