I'm seeing xserver-xorg-video-intel already installed. It needed an

The bug definitely exists on my machine with 13.10 but there's no need
to backport to 13.10 since I've adopted 14.04 as my everyday build.
Despite being an early alpha release, it is working well. Thanks.

If the power adapter is plugged in (with power) the mouse works
perfectly as well as the track pad. If the power adapter is unplugged
the mouse freezes after about 10 seconds of inactivity. Plug the adapter

Perhaps, someone can enlighten us about how Mint 14 is different from Ubuntu
12.10? What did they fix in Ubuntu 12.10 to
bring stability?
As for a Lens substitute try Synapse it is great and I must use it 100 times
per day to launch applications and find
things.

After following the advice of pureblood with post #397 I have not
experienced a crash since for several days now after I applied only the
first switch recommendation "i915.i915_enable_rc6=0".

Are other Ubuntu flavors also being impacted? How about Kubuntu, Pinguy
and other desktops such as LXDE, XFCE. Perhaps this can help narrow the
problem down. I've experienced the hanging problem apparently randomly
and without USB devices attached. It seems to happen most when I'm using
Firefox 13.
I just tried the Live-CD and the problem is not longer there!!!
I'm going to update. I will report what happens.
Thanks!

I found that solution in some forum (alas, I don't remember which one).
But the relevant thing is that this problem is affecting a lot of ubuntu
users since 10.04 at least (which means, almost a year), and there
wasn't a solution even if there are tons of complains in forums an

SOLVED. (I hope!)
These are the steps:
remove everything that has something to do with the graphics enviroment,
as it says here:
Then,
$ sudo gedit /etc/default/grub
and change this line:

for this one:

Ok, it wasn't the new AMD ATI Drivers what "seemed" to solve the
problem, which is still present.
This is what I just did:
I've removed all packages fglrx, xserver-xorg-video-ati and xserver-
xorg-video-radeon.
I reinstalled xserver-xorg-video-ati and the mesa libraries.
I deleted the xorg.conf.
Nothing it's perfect: now I can't enable Desktop Effects

Well, I didn't get an answer of this issue. Fortunately, I just
