I tested it on Linux Mint with updated kernel 3.2.0-24-gerneric #39-Ubuntu

Thanks!

I was affected too with Natty. Now I confirm, that this bug still exists
with Ubuntu Precise 12.04 beta 2. I tested it with a 32-bit LiveCD-iso
on a bootable USB stick.
When I power up the system, the fan on the graphics board starts at full
speed. Soon it slows down when the BIOS checks memory,

I use Ubuntu since 2005 and recently also see rendering problems with my

I just marked another 3 duplicates and agree that many people could be
affected.
I tested a Samsung SF510 with an Elantech touchpad where this bug really
hurts: its palm detection is very unreliable. Finger clicks are detected

@Rodrigo: palm detection will never be 100% reliable with every touchpad

touchpads.

I confirm that patch from comment 64 works on a Samsung SF510. But a
right click is very hard to accomplish, also after applying the diff
from comment 94. Tweaking its coordinates did not help either. But I
found that right click gets easier if the pressed area is just big
enough e.g. by holding
Upto Lucid I had no problems with UMS (fast stable 2D+3D), but many
problems with KMS. That's why this bug has hurt me quite much in
Maverick.
Now in Natty it's the opposite: with KMS the only problem is video
playback tearing (not in sync with vblank), but without KMS there are
severe redraw

other problems with X. Compiz and Kernel-Mode-Setting are disabled on my
system.

Now it's clear: this bug is *not* a duplicate of bug #427168. This one
is about key binding being reset, 427168 is about keyboard rate/delay
being reset.
The same confusion was on gnome.org while discussing both fixes
(https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=610245). Meanwhile chances
are good

@Kevin: It is difficult to decide where to report this bug. But I agree, we
should do this.

modmap files are related or not, we should treat this bug isolated, because the
fixes might be different.

As a workaround you may just set the rate again with the command:
gconftool-2 -s -t int /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/rate RATE
To get the current RATE you can do:
gconftool-2 -g /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/rate
Each time your keyboard is slow again, you can invoke the first

My comment #13 does not solve but hide the problem - it is a work-
around. The kernel/driver/Xorg is supposed to resend rate and delay when
a keyboard hardware lost them due to power loss. I'd call it chaotic to
leave this to a user-space program.
Me too, hope a proper fix will make it into 10.04
I confirm that this bug still exists in Lucid 10.04 alpha 2 (as of 13th

I am not sure if my comment above targets the same issue as this bug.
This bug is about wrong settings after RESUME. If unplug and re-plug the
keyboard does also trigger this bug, then my previous comment is valid
and we could mark this bug as duplicate of Bug #427168.

Wrong keyboard settings
I have exactly this problem in Karmic (up-to-date) with my wireless
external keyboard (Logitech). I think there are keyboards that forget
these settings when connection is lost. Sometimes this also occurs after
a sleep-resume without unplugging the keyoard.
