right patch.diff file. My patch.diff starts at: "---

ppa:graphics-drivers.
Using 4.18.0-16-generic kernel.
I find that when I use Intel profile, powertop reports the nvidia card as 0%
active, and the setting in Tunables shows up as Good.
However, /proc/acpi/bbswitch reports

I can confirm that installing nvidia-390 through the Ubuntu driver dialog, and
then using nvidia-settings or prime-select to set intel keeps the nvidia card
on for me on my GeForce 840M laptop.

1. I've tried debugging kernel boot option other than nomodeset but it did not

The issue is still reproducible with the updated BIOS and I have
discovered another, more severe issue. Steps to reproduce:
1. work with internal and and external monitor connected to dock and both
switched on and in use.
2. detach the laptop from the dock physically. Internal monitor stays on,
I am using Ubuntu 16.04LTS and had a similar behavior. I have External Dell
monitor and whenever I was visiting sites that has flash, or moving the windows
my monitor was flickering like crazy.
Setting the refresh rate to 60Hz made everything fine.

Okay, so, ignore my previous claim it happens only after wake-up. As
such, my fix is also not perfect, although it does prevent the problem

Bug disappeared, now touchpad+Nvidia card works withut freezes.

It seems to me that since there is an workaround (uim + some local hack) a lot
of people who could help speed this up will not. But as long as IBus is used
by a lot of distros (default in Ubuntu and Fedora, according to Wikipedia), the

Your workaround works :) . Smoothly. This little cedilla has become a PITA in
Ubuntu. By the way, I'm running UbuntuStudio 14.04, up-to-date. What we need to
do to solve this? I have some time. Maybe you, gui ambros, maybe Leandro knows

Issue persists in Xubuntu 14.04; opening http://google.com/chrome/ in
either Chrome or Firefox triggers the bug. The issue can be worked
around by either disabling hardware acceleration in Chrome or switching
the acceleration method to UXA in Xorg.conf.

Solution checked in Ubuntu 14.04.1
Use vm.swappiness & vm.vfs_cache_pressure to the minimum possible
Run the below command in Terminal
sudo gedit /etc/sysctl.conf
Add the below line at the end of the file. Select File > Save. Select File >
Quit. Restart computer
vm.swappiness=1
vm.vfs_cache_pres
Public bug reported:
After changing video driver in Software & Updates, no display after reboot,
