b) I can boot from an external drive. I have OS X 10.11.3. This OS fixes the

Trying to change the video resolution (I tried on a Macbook Pro Retina
15) to something like 1900:1200 or 1920:1080 blackens the screen and
does not revert to the previous settings.
Worse, the graphics card heats up rapidly and brings the area close to

well i also have this bug and own an amd 7870 videocard using the catalyst
driver... i think it is obvious that
every proprietary linux video driver causes this issue.
of course the LD workaround also lets skype start for me, but i have a severe
crackling
on my headset for a few seconds and
@#64 i really hope i dont have to bisect the kernels between 12.10 and 13.04

I think I found fix for my case. Ubuntu x64 freezes completely, intel i5.
I've noticed that when system freezes, chrome is always on.
So I've switched to firefox, and guess what, no more freezes!

Ugh, at least with the Alps touchpad on my Thinkpad X301 the new cursor
behaviour makes clicking links feel like playing bomberman in an ice-

perhaps you can update the driver using the third-party Xorg »edgers«
driver repository. It’s a so-called PPA (personal package archive). I
guess the Openchrome driver in there does not depend on a more recent
Xorg, so install without dependency error. I can’t check. But you’ll see
compositing is OFF.

Do you also use this unstable source? I don't use dual screen, only a
