I think we finally have this solved! I installed Nvidia driver 304.37 using this: http://ppa.launchpad.net/xorg-edgers/ppa/ubuntu not wanting to take a chance on a manual install with my kernel upgrade. (3.4) Kudos to the Nvidia team for staying with this. I spent maybe 1 1/2 hours watching

Looks like we finally got a fix. I just installed Nvidia driver 302.17, watched a 55 min. Hulu video using Unity 3d without crashing. Prior version 302.11 worked fine in 2d mode only, crashed to login in 3d. I also observed that temp didn't rise while watching movie. Nvidia settings showed
