I'm running Kubuntu 14.10 and I am still experiencing the bug.

Sorry, you are correct the system was not upgraded. It is a fresh
install of 12.04.
I only used the word "upgrade" because yesterday, I was running 11.10
and decided to move to 12.04, though I did so via a fresh install.

After rotating the screen with the "rotate" button, the axes of wacom pen and
the mouse are not swapped.
If you move the pen/mouse horizontal , it goes vertical.

After initial boot the tablet pen is not working.
If I do a "restart gdm" the tablet pen is recognized.
The Xorg.0.log shows before "restart gdm":

Upgrading to deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/thjaeger/xorg-xi2/ubuntu karmic main
helps to avoid the crash of wacom.
But the touch driver is still not working.

Pen is working until I "touch" the screen.
The Xorg.log shows:

Error reading wacom device : Resource temporarily unavailable
Could this be an ordering thing, in that the touchpad appears to be
captured first in Macintosh Emulation then, later on, the SynPS/2 driver
has a go, but it is already configured?

This is really annoying. It appears that two finger tapping no longer
works as it always used to. On previous versions of Ubuntu tapping with
two fingers emulates the middle button. This seems no longer to be the
case. Is this something to do with "Macintosh Emulation"?
