I think for a proper SRU, this patch should be reworked a bit. Instead
of simply deleting the code it should conditionalize it with a driver
option that can be set in xorg.conf and that is disabled by default.
That way, if other people find it is indeed needed, they will be able to
flip it back
Upstream has closed the bug as fixed by removing the 3d pipeline for
core rendering (855ced5a4eb67e287001ae22cb6489639c548cfa) - this is a
~300 line patch which mostly deletes a bunch of code. It's unclear to
me how safe this is, so not certain if this could be considered SRU-
worthy.
