WOL isn't related to ACPI power modes. Suspend (ACPI S3) isn't necessary
to have WOL power on the system-- Celeron systems (e.g. D201GLY2) all
lack ACPI S3 support, and nearly all of them can wake from LAN when
configured with ethtool.
The best way to debug this is to simply set the ethtool optio
oh, yes the main error i was having was that i couldn't connect to
http://server:9000
the tell tale sign was that it did connect but dropped, as i sometimes
got the squeezecenter icon in the address bar.
this is obvious in the logs as sc was constantly restarting.

That's how I found my strange MAC error, I use DHCP for everything, and
hard code known MAC addresses to fixed IP addresses.
Its just too easy when doing it manually to screw something up.
If you notice, ove

You probably need to do the setup again on the player (press the back
button for 5-10 sec, it'll take you back to the setup. Or press "+" at
startup to perform a factory reset of the player).

I saw that just a month or so ago. Seems a faulty NIC was reporting
different MAC addresses each time it was queried, and so the DHCP
address kept changing. Had to use another NIC.

Perhaps you could elaborate on exactly what you are trying to do?

with all the space on modern discs and the price of memory I cannot
think why you wouldn't put kubuntu on your machine. A gui can really

the larger distros also fit in firefox and other useful stuff.
If you look at the Kubuntu site there \may well be an easy way to move

Firefox won't run without a GUI, so it won't run over SSH or from the
command-line (without X running).
You may have encountered the infamous AppArmor problem, search the
forum.
It sounds like you installed Ubuntu Server, which is probably what you
want. It frees up resources used by the GUI, a
I used to run SlimServer on XP but hated not having my music available
when I had to reboot for something stupid. I popped for a new hard

Also are you sure squeezecenter is running try running 'top' at the

It is worth it though. :o) I used to run Squeezecenter on my Windows
box, but there's too much downtime rebooting after the latest Microsoft
patch etc. Solaris just stays up. And with Solaris you get ZFS, which
gives you a flexible upgradable software RAID that is ridiculously easy
