I just use relative paths. To Windows, my main music directory is

Rather than trying to brute-force the setting in the config file, have
you tried setting the hostname for SC in the preferences on

If you could persuade whatever's writing the playlists to use UNC that
could work, but assuming you're using SC I'm not sure how to do that :)

Just what I was afraid of. Wish there was a way to "virtualize"
volumes/folders in a consistent way that makes targets transparent to
whatever OS there is...
Thanks for the suggestion!

What bothers me is that Squeezecenter is in fact architecure neutral

dingJam,
Note the process I am describing could be dangerous. By that I mean
that you could be forced to reinstall the machine. If that is a problem
then do not try my following suggestion. The minipc from dell is i386
compatible so it should work.

Well the fit-pc went for more on ebay than my miserable budget would
allow. But my old dear has a 4 year old dell tower in her loft, so this
might be just the ticket!

Thanks for the reply.
I went through the process you described and am having problems. The
"standard" installation process just isn't going to work for me.
Everything is fine until the "apt-get update" step. After this
command, one of the pieces of text feedback that is displayed is:

Thanks guys. I'll probably try it out on my laptop first, and if that
goes okay I'll upgrade perl on the main server. Cheers.

Hi,
Are you sure that filenames with Danish characters display -and work
correctly in both locally on the Linux box, as well as remotely from
your Windows box?
I.e. can you:
Create a file named: "æøå.txt" from Windows, and find it on your Linux
system (i.e. using putty) using the command:
$ find

I'm not sure. I've added a new perl 5.10 bug keyword - but there's only one
issue so far ;-)
