Hi rescued my server and tried to install SC 7.4 on it.
SqueezeCenter starts but quits directly.
It does not create any log files at all so some basics to begin with:
This is the one strange system message i find:
Mar 12 03:41:47 hal mysqld: Starting MySQL: succeeded
Mar 12 03:41:48 hal runuser
I did reinstall CC4.2 SP1 ( CC4.3 causes kernel panic on my machine ).
Thanks, watch out for my next tread why does not SC start :-/

Your right Linux should be able to run on an i386 processor. I haven't
used anything less then a i586 for the past 15 years and Fedora doesn't
support anything less then an i586 by default but maybe there is an i386
kernel for Fedora someplace. I'll take a look.

Do you mean linux builds for i386 are getting unavailable ??
What about the so-called "universal" builds on every Live-cd; aren't
they built for i386 using recent kernels ?

That's one option but I am actually planning to replace my hard drive
with a
I don't know if you've seen this but there is a thread under 3rd party
plugins asking for testing of custom-convert.conf and mplayer.sh for
playing AAC files. The new files are provided as an attachment toward
the end of the thread.

I am having some issues with playing AAC (m4p) files and I have started
working with my custom-convert.conf file. Is there some debug setting
that I can use so that the log will indicate which conversion is being
selected? I have already enabled --d_source --d_directstream
--d_source_v --d_stdi
"tune2fs -l "wont work with roughly the same errors as before, it can
not read the disc i have ext2 btw.
i start to suspect that my disc is fubar.. time to try CC4.3 instead

sorry, but I'm as much at sea as you. I've never done this before
either!
the position of the backup superblock depends on the filesystem block
size.
tune2fs -l /dev/
should give you lots of info including the block size
Also are you sure it's an ext2/ext3 filesystem? try running fsck
instead
Hmm having a hard time getting any good info maybe I need a lot of
handholding in this..
"Bad magic number in superblock"
"Could not find valid filesystem superblock"
I try to mount -o remount,rw which goes fine ? i see all the files then
? umount and tries to e2fsck then I'm stuck -n option don
Yes, I looked up the specs of your VIA chip and VortexBox does not
support it. Most modern versions of Linux will not support it. Why
don't you just keep using Ubuntu 6.10? That was working.
Your other option is to upgrade your hardware. You could get a bigger
drive at the same time. :)

I believe the Via C3 processor is only i386 compatible. I came across a
post on some forum where someone had tried without success to install
VortexBox
I'd boot a rescue cd & run fsck manually.
If you look at the man pages for fsck and fsck.ext2, it'll tell you how
to run fsck in interactive mode & how to fix a bad superblock if that is
the problem.
_BUT_ you need to check the exact error message first, googling for
"superblock nags a bit" does
Hi all,
I am running SC on an Ubuntu-Server. Works great.
Now I would like to run a script whenever one of my squeezeboxes is
turned on. So: I press "Power", Squeezebox is turned on, and a small
bash-script is executed. I turn the Squeezebox off again, and another
script is being run. The script
