It is actually rather strange that you can't hear a difference, because
when I tested it (original Pi B, not the B+) the analogue out had so
much noise and distortion on it, that it was clearly audible, even on
cheap PC speakers. I never tried the analogue out on the model B+

Did you ever get a chance to test the IQaudIO Amp+ against the HifiBerry
Amp+? I quite like the Hifiberry components (using their "Digi" on two
of my setups) and the Amp+ seems to be OK, but since it "only" goes up
to 24/48 and LMS now supports HiRes via Qobuz Plugin (tbh...I don't own

For sane volumes (this one is in the bedroom) I don't need much power,
so I've got it running with a simple (but efficient) 12V Power Supply

This is about power consumption. Is there a way to reduce power draw in
idle for the Pi B+? I just set one up in the bedroom, with Hifiberry
Amp+ feeding two small speakers, and it draws 2.

It also does not forget the Playlist. Once the player is turned on I
just have to press "Play" once and it continues where it stopped. Mostly

Reporting back on an older issue:
Autostarting with the "Play" command works perfectly on RPI B with
Hifiberry Dac and Digi, it also works with RPI B+ and HifiBerry Amp+,
but not with a model B and HifiBerry Amp. I have no idea why this is.

I found that it has something to do with the later versions of xterm.
Apparently they use xterm-256 as their standard, and picoreplayer only
supports the "old" standard. My Android SSH app allows me to change the
setting, and then I can access alsamixer. I'll see if I can find a way

Brief question:
I wanted to check my ALSA levels, but I can't seem to get alsamixer to
start anymore. Everytime I type "alsamixer" in SSH I get an error about
"xterm-256" and that's it. This has been happening in the last few
iterations of PiCorePlayer, and even on a completely reimaged card...

The latest PiCorePlay 1.19i seems to be having a lot of trouble here.
It's little things, like some settings not sticking, a player

Power Supply does matter, but PiCorePlayer hardly puts any stress on the
CPU of the Pi, so there is no need for that much power. As long as your
phone-charger can manage a stable 700mah you should be fine.
SD Card is not a big deal for PiCorePlayer either, because it runs from
RAM. 256MB should b
I'm afraid there are several possi le causes, but I'd suggest the
following as a first test:
Instead of "sysdefault:CARD=ALSA" you put "hw:CARD=ALSA" and set
overclocking to "off" instead of moderate. Maybe that will help. Sadly
there are many factors, starting with Network issues and ending with
Nice. Now we're talking Klingon... ;)

It's good new I guess, but I'm a bit worried about the increasing number
of models. Keeping them all supported with Sofware and Hardware add-on

I just tried it out with strange results... It turns out that I get a
slight hiss on the left speaker, but no hiss at all on the right
speaker. I'm not sure why, but it might have something to do with the

My suggestion: put the PiCorePlayer with HifoBerry Amp on a remote
controllable plug. They are cheap and very handy. Since PiCore runs in
RAM you can simply cut the power with your remote and you'll havr
maximum power saving and silence.

Actually that's a non-issue for me. I mainly want to to restart the

with it.
I connected a pair of vintage (1970s) Canton LE 400 I got for 35€ on
ebay and it was all up and running with PiCorePlayer in minutes. I tried
a 12V 3A and a 12V 2.2A power supply and both work perfectly. Max.

Not really. It remembers, but forgets to start the stream when the
Player comes online again. At least that's the way I see it.

I think Hifiberry runs with the "hw" config in Picoreplayer and ignores
any Alsa Buffer settings. Maybe it has it's own way of handling
buffering, but Ibsimply don't know.

What he's talking about is, that Picoreplayer always boots with
Squeezelite set to "Paused" instead of using the last state it was in.

I'm having a strange issue since I upgraded to 1.15b:
I usually leave music playing and just cut the power when I don't want
to listen anymore. Then, when I turn the power back on, the player
continues with the same radio channel/track. Sadly, this no longer works
with the latest version.
