With new Ati catalyst there's no refresh errors. I tend to work with compiz and
4 workspaces.
It's lightning fast and very efficient way using compiz. There's one error
though. If I click material previews

Scene contains three spaceships and planet below which has the normal
athmosphere material.
Ubuntu 9.10 64bit and V6 = 24 min 24 sec
