Hello all,
Would like to know if CS support Elastic features for computing resource or
storage resource?

Hi Jerry,
You can scale out the storage and compute layer horizontally to give you
massive scale should you require it.
A user can create as many VMs and consume as much storage as the Cloud Admins
allow.
You can also burst out to other clouds such as AWS giving you even more options.

Thanks Paul.
I does somewhat, although it feels like the rabbit hole got deeper :)
What I've taken away from the above and is applicable to my setup is that:
Before the CS Installation on the Physical Hosts i'll need to:
A.) Create bridge Cloudbr0-mgmt-guest for the management and guest traffic

I guess the Elastic he means is auto-scale instance based on the load of

Can someone explain the functionality of this?

Maurice,
I was having the same issues, I tried a number of iptables rule changes,
but it seems that whenever a new instance was deployed it would
overwrite my changes and break things again. My temporary fix is to run
a cron job that runs every minute that issues a service iptables stop.

Yes Ronald,
That sounds like you've got it. Remember the CloudStack mgmt. server needs to
be able to communicate with the secondary storage, so the secondary storage
needs to be in the same subnet as the CloudStack mgmt. server and reachable
through eth1 or you need routing in place to allow th

Hi all.
Is it possible for domain admin account/user account to change its name +
generate api keys in cloudstack ? I did not found such possibility while
logged in as either user or domain-admin account. It seems that only root
admin can do that but that would be very illogicall.

Hi Wang,
I guess you might be right, and if so then then answer is still yes as using
the AutoScaling features, CloudStack can create new VMs when the CPU, RAM or
Bandwidth usage exceeds set parameters, and then destroy those VMs when the
load drops again - truly elastic

Hi Valery,
The ability for a Domain Admin / User to generate their own API / Secret Keys
is coming in version 4.1 which will be hitting the streets very soon.
I touched on this at the recent CloudStack European User Group Meet Up, and you
can find all of the slides from the session here
http:/
Valery,
Currently that is a root admin function only. I believe there are
enhancements in progress for that to change.

I have a related issue. I sent it out under a different thread, but should
put it here, too.

Robert,
Your best bet is to review the release notes. They have a fairly
comprehensive upgrade path on how to do upgrades and what are the
requirements. There is not necessarily a "critical step" document, but it
will help you get the pre-requisites that you are looking for. If you're
looking int
I think it should be noted that this feature is currently only available
with the NetScaler load balancer. This is not a CS standalone feature if
that is what you are looking for Wang.

Hi,
I tried again. This time between steps 8 and 9 I ran the following command
export MAVEN_OPTS="-Xmx1024m -XX:MaxPermSize=800m -Xdebug
-Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,address=8787,server=y,suspend=n"
It still hung again after running the mvn-pl client jetty:run command - see

I've reinstalled host from scratch and now everything is ok, I suppose XS

Thanks for all the info Paul.
I must admit that the pieces are not fitting together yet for that "aha"
moment.
I'm not coming to grips with the use of the bridges on the Physical Host
itself. In my limited use of bridges it's to connect 2 network segments but
in this case I'm befuddled.

Hi Ron, the API discovery service requires CloudStack 4.1 or later.
cloudmonkey won't work with prev versions ie 4.0 and below. It's enabled by
default in 4.1 and master/4.2.
As a fail safe, all apis are precached so the cli should work.
Hope this helps. Cheers.

This situation only works for stateless session connection architectures
like web service.
If so, that means CS need to notify Loadbalancers the scale-up happens so
that LB can redirect
Load to new instance.
Does it work for handware LB(F5?) as well?
