My experience with WinXP/SP3, Intel CoreDuo 2GhZ, 4Gb Ram, is that it is
faster than 3.1, but it is very crash prone at the point of saving a file
at least in OOW... which is not good, not to mention a big waste of time.

I fetched OO.o 3.2 and installed it. Installation on my system took
about 45 minutes.
My system is runs XP SP3, processor is Sempron 2800+, 1.6 GHz, with 1 GB
RAM, and fairly fast hard drives, kept defragmented (Diskeeper). I don't
