I've been trying to find out how to how get multiple footnote references
point to the same footnote text. I want to do this in cases where the
same footnote is referenced on one page (5 pieces of text with exactly
the same content at the bottom of a page doesn't seem very
"professional" to me)

Try insert -> Cross-reference and choose your footnote

Yes, but endnotes were not what I wanted or needed for this document. As
I stated I wanted references to appear at the end of the page they were
called from.
