I can't remember if this was
correlated to a particular VBox version or to some other change in my

After the 1.6.2 Guest Additions installation these keys were missing
the LanmanWorkstation part and I suspect that the update process made
a little error here.

AFter several ups and downs I am currently at VBox 1.6.2, but with
Windows guest additions 1.5.7, because I did not want to repeat that

Good situation for forgetting other things again ;-)

No instabilities except occasional hangs of the VM during shutdown.

Mostly "self-made" Linux with a Slackware core system (current version 12.1).

I would assume a "yes" here, otherwise you would not have the
mount.vboxsf program.
On the Guest the relevant VBox kernel modules are loaded (vboxvfs and
vboxadd)?
Are both of them listed when you do a lsmod | grep vbox ?

somebody else has to answer. I had
only the theoretical knowledge which components are needed for it to
work, but do not have an such a system installed. And I fear also the
details of this mechanism are different in various Linux flavors.

And your processor does not have this VT-x feature (see

Not sure, if the standard question for this case was already answered:
Do you have the Windows Guest Additions installed in your XP?
Without them no shared folders (see VBox Manual 4.1, 4.6).

Zitat von Arturas :

The "normal" way to install the "Guest Addtions"
Zitat von Arturas :
In my VB version it is called "Virtual Media manager". I use "CD/DVD
Images" and Add VBoxGuestAdditions.iso. It adds and nothing happens:
the image is not mounted and windows does not see. The comment is
that the image is 'not attached'.
What I'm doing wrong ?
Hmm,

latest version 3.0.4, may be different in other versions).
This was my last contribution to this thread, no ideas left what to
say more. ;-)
