Just for information, I found a pop3 proxy (perdition is its name) which can receive
imap or pop3-ssl/tls or simple pop3 and send queries over pop3-sll/tls or pop3.
It can be a good solution to use it if your mail stands stands on an untrusted network
and listens to pop3-ssl/tls or imap-ssl

Actually, 4.10.35 is the version I am using. Also, this is a fresh install
so I have nothing to backup :)
Perhaps there are setup steps I am missing? What I am seeing is that when I
add a domain, the ou=mydomain.com is added to my LDAP tree. However, I get

has a new authentication structure.

As long as you provide the variables it wants (mostly required)

This seems to be a problem related to the security enhancement that was
implemented by Ken on the ~vpopmail/lib directory. It's now set to 700
owned by root. The problem with this in the case of courier imap is that
it requires the build of the software to be done as non-root user. So

plain text passwords, is there a way to do this? If I do the upgrade,
authentication fails as it can't find the plain text column. Should I
manually add this column?

You should not have to stop the server. You merely must compile
the new vpopmail, backup your old binaries, and do make install-strip.
Check to see if when you telnet to 25 and 110 there are no errors,
and for about 5 minutes, monitor your qmail logs to make sure there
are no errors there either.
