Thanks to all on this thread.
The below response is where I'll place my stake in the sand.
This is the official answer I got from Veritas support this morning regarding
this:
Hi ,
I have picked up your case.
Originally when Version 6 was bought out the following was published.
I also believe 5.1 MP4+ is the most rock solid product I've run (less DSSU
issues) and would prefer to stay on that version and not be forced between
choosing either 6.0 MP4+ or 6.5 GA
I would suggest for those in the group who are also wanting to wait for 6.5
MP1+ to contact their Veritas/Syman
No way to avoid the data base migration/conversion from 5.x to 6.x unless it is
a new install.

to upgrade we are going to wait just a bit longer for
I've seen something similar, but not like you've described.

on the task bar, try clicking on it.)

Bobby,
I'd be interested in knowing of a link to that documentation/bug from Veritas.

If you are using NB5.1, don't make them larger than 1TB. There is a reported
bug that documents that even though you get good backups, you can't restore.

Scott,
What version of Netbackup are you running, if you don*t mind me asking? We do
multi stream backups.
Thanks,
Matt

Matt,
In my experience, with more than one stream, a bad idea.
I had 6 streams (tried increments starting at 2) running with a Windows media
server backing up a Linux based system and had constant stream failures.
Now with a SuSE based media server(s), all streams finish fine with no errors.
To those NBU Aptare users:
I'm already convinced of the vendor preference for Aptare as the third party
NetBackup reporting tool alternative, what I'd like to know is the real world
experiences for this tool and reports the can be generated and realized in
terms of:
1. Cost management.

Windows 2003 Standard Edition
or
Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition (64)
In a 5.1 environment (eventually going to 6.0 MP4+) are there comments on using
one of the above OS's over the other?
Thanks,
Scott

Any ideas?

Does anyone know if your going to be able to migrate directly from 5.1 to 6.5
or will you need to go to 6.0 first?
Thanks,
Scott
