me forever to get down to the THREE hairs that made up the tail on
Iain: You're right. I can barely SEE them, much less tie them. I carry two 28's

are not even fancy either, and it took me FOREVER to tie those. And I had to

A couple things you can try.
At least an 8/0 thread, 11/0 or 14/0 is better if you can find it.
I usually tie down in hook size to get a feel for proportion and technique.
Tie a couple 12's then 14's then 16 etc... until you get the hang of it.
Fewer wraps than larger flies, and sparser material
The thread size is very important. Iy you use 6 or 4 the head will be far too
large. Less is best.

I regularly tie 18 through 24. It is just like tying the larger flies, the
material has to be smaller, hackle, feathers. Also the use a thinner thread,
0/8 works great. If you have more questions, i can answer specific ones for you.

couple months back thinking it was interesting.
Thanks for the info.

I collected first edition equine books for about 30 years, I had a

Good advise on the non smoking home if you are collecting. I bought
Warren Duncan's 'Forgotten Flies' on ebay from his sister and still
today the smoke smell is in the book. But, I did buy if for reference...

number inscribed to me. I have been told that that lowers the value. In some
cases I have photos of the author signing the book. I have put these photos in
the book. I am not worried about what the books are worth at this
