Hi Wes,
If you've got full animal skins, have you tried whiskers from the face?
Just an idea.
Or the paint brush seems a good idea. Cut to length to suit,

If you use Boar's bristle paint brushes as the fibets, you will find that they
contain a natural taper and work wonderfully. They are also much cheaper.
There are also some nylon paint brushes with tapering ends, but they are very
expensive. They have rather a white end to the fiber so you
Thanks for all the suggestions, folks. Great ideas. I was looking up
Joyce's Boar's bristle brush idea and found these, in white.

Not synthetic, but pretty good looking.

Wes,
Try a patch of Porcupine. You need a patch with a lot of kind of under hair. I
have a patch with quills but also a patch with small quills and a lot of long
like hairs. I think that would work for you. I have used them for antennas in
the past for realistic flies.

Wes try your standard paint brush fiber. Just hold them against a sanding
disk to sand a taper in the end. You can do a small brush all at once then
pick the fibers free as you need them
