Rob, that's not normal. Should take 5-10 mins to import a file that size. Max info about what you're doing is good here. What files are you importing, what format are they in, etc. If you're importing a video file from a memory card, you need to use either the MPEG4 Project setting or iSigh

If you're on the mac, iMovie is great (free, comes with mac). On the PC there is movie maker (free, comes with PC), but it is really limited and cluncky, but will work fine for basic editing. If you want to go a step up on the PC, premiere elements is great. The education version is around $100. .

That FS100 looks sweet for the price, but no mic port, which is a killer for me. I've got the HF100 (my review here: http://techtrek.blip.tv/#972293) and so far I'm happy, the only issues are that sometimes the white balance seems to shift between takes, but I'm not sure. And you're right, I don'
