Flattening, in the QuickTime context, means baking all the data into one files,
as opposed to referencing outside files. QuickTime has the ability to create
very small reference movies, basically containers for external content - audio,
video, sprite, text - packaged yp into one file. When savin
Thats still a great lineup. I would like to attend a few of those sessions

Great discussion. I've been asked to present at the Orange County Multimedia
Web Video SIG next week on this subject and this post has been an invaluable
resource. Thanks to everyone for sharing links and opinions.
Its interesting and exciting to see progress made with these tools, but I still

They say being one step ahead of the curve you are a genius, being two steps

When do you think WordPress will have a HTML5 video player? What would need to

Dave you seem to have a lot of respect in this group so i'll refrain from
ripping you a new one and just say this.
If you bothered to read my original post before getting your pompous high and
might knickers in a twist you'd have noticed that I too share this marvelous
thing you call CHOICE.
Well, in the case of the restaurant, is the visual clearly showing the setting.
If so, I would say some subtle restaurant sound in the background will help
sell the story of the location.

I watched the Google Buzz launch video today, and noticed it was live streamed
over YouTube. I had not heard of them offering a live streaming service. Is
this something new or am I just late to the party as usual?

The LitePanels have a great reputation. LED camera mounted lights. Very cool,
very efficient. But expensive.

Call me old school, but I still publish my vlog in 320x240. For a couple of
reasons. My old Flip shoots at 640x480 and at the native size its pretty
crummy. Scaled to quarter screen it tightens up and cleans up the noise
considerably.
Also theres nothing in my vlog that needs to be seen at HD
Hi Loreta
I'll address the recording good audio best practices that I follow. These have
not let me down, but when I have NOT followed them I always end up with poor
audio.
First, you need to get the mic as close to your talent as possible. Get a boom

I don't think compression or standards are really the limiting factor in
stopping people editing video more casually. I think the technical limitations
are far more limiting to the casual videographer. Hard drive space and

Flash causes Safari to crash at least once a day for me. I would hate (and my
guess is so would Apple) to have that experience on my mobile browser, where

So I for one dont mind there being no flash on the iPhone, although Hulu would
be nice. But
Hi Warren,
What you need is a custom application built in Flash or Director. I suppose you
could do the same using web technology - HTML, CSS etc but you then have to
worry about rendering it all in a browser, not the most reliable method, nor
the prettiest.

This is a great discussion, and this list is pretty spot on from my

My habits have not changed much in years. It works so I leave it alone. I

Hi Videobloggers and new media creators
I am in pre-production for a podcast I have been wanting to do for
many months. Finally decided to get off my butt and do something about
it. But I need some assistance or guidance in getting started. I have
been creating media for many years but this is
