Re: Mac LC issues

My LCIII's usually work fine without a PRAM battery, so the drive issue might not be related to the lack of a PRAM battery! Check the connection between the logic board and the hard drive; also, see if the drive itself makes some noises as you turn the computer on - if it is the original drive, it

2010-04-24 Thread Manuel Marques
Hey there! In the last two days I made some nice finds, mainly when salvaging old machines in the college campus: a beige desktop Power Mac G3, a LC, a Classic II, and a Quadra 650. The guy who gave me the Quadra said it lacked a FPU, but as far as I investigated, the 650 was always sold with a 6

Yes, I have one of those remotes and I can switch channels or mute my Sony TV with it :). Shouldn't be too hard to figure out the codes... IIRC my Performa 5200's tuner will use either PAL or NTSC... but I'll have to check! (probably won't, for all that's been said here...) MM On May 6, 11:25 pm

Yes, but then you'd need an interface that would work painlessly with the Mac OS. There's a japanese company (artmix, I think) which produces SCSI-CF and SCSI-IDE-CF bridges, but they are way too expensive! (about $100 for a SCSI-CF interface...) MM On May 6, 7:22 pm, Wolf wrote: > how about SCS

Yes, there are adapters which convert the Mac monitor pinout into a VGA connector. They often have dip switches to control the resolution, and work fine with every Mac! (I tried one in a LC and it worked perfectly with my 17'' Nokia, which only has VGA connection) - of course, I was working with 64

My Unimac adapter has the labeling for the dip switches in a sticker placed inside the lid which covers the dip switches... ROM-bootable machines

Hey all! Could you please confirm me one thing: the Classic (and Classic II) are the only two Apple machines that have a bootable system folder in ROM? Or are there other machines? I'm asking this because in a comment thread on Flickr someone mentioned booting a LC from ROM. I haven't tried that

Normally the adapter has a sticker containing the different dip switch combinations to get the allowed resolutions! (at least mine has...) Although with a LC II you won't be able to go very far in terms of resolutions - probably up to 832x624 with 4-bit color, or less (I don't remember how much VR
