Probably, yes. You may have to pull the drive, set it up as an external,
and use a different Mac to format

Well, I actually got these through a guy who got them from who-knows-where.
I can check with him, but I'm figuring worse
The LC 520 is pretty much an all in one version
of the LC III. They can be upgraded to an LC 550
(boost up to 33Mhz from 25Mhz) or an LC 575 (with
an 040 CPU) simply by swapping in the different
logic boards.
Do your 520s have caddy or tray load CD-ROM drives?
Manual or auto inject floppy
If the one has At-Ease installed, you may be able
to bypass it by changing the SCSI ID and connecting
it to another Mac so it's not the boot drive.
Also try disconnecting the drive and doing a PRAM zap
then boot from a floppy so you can have a look at
how much RAM it has.
Another option

OK, interesting trivia. Now I know. It was just a wild guess
I believe the 520s are SCSI. And, I don't believe any of the IDE Macs
supported more than one device on a controller until the Blue and White
G3.

Caddy CD with auto eject floppies.

That is simply an adaptor plugged onto the SCSI and
power connectors of the drive. A bit of careful

Probably caddy and auto-inject, since even the 550s seem to have mostly had
caddy and auto-inject and they were later models.

Would an IDE drive partitioned into three chunks count as 'multiple devices'?
