Hello,
The new Orbit 40 that is coming out will have cursor
buttons. The orbits are really good for note taking. Also the new Orbit 40
will have on board translation.

I've certainly never come across it at the various trade shows that the

Hi Richard, Simon, and Alia.
She will be using it for note taking as well as lots of reading.
So far we have looked at the Focus 40 5th gen as well as the mentioned
Q-Braille from Hims.
Orbit reader sounds good, But from what I gather that display does not
have cursor buttons.
Thanks,
I do not believe the Vario Ultra is being produced any longer.
I use the Orbit Reader 20.
A 40 cell version will be out within a couple of months.
Which display will be best for your client will depend a lot on what specific

What models of braille displays are people using with the iPhone?
I have heard good things about the new Focus 5th gen as well as the
QBraille.
Any insight welcome.

I was wondering what are your experiences regarding braille displays/ios and

Not that I know of. The idea is to type in Braille on the touch screen just
like you could with MBraille and BrailleTouch however you can do this in any
text field. Typing on a Braille display should be the same as it always has
been in previous releases.

Okay, thanks all for the responses. I was talking about the ability
to, perhaps enter text with a Braille display like the new braille
input mode or handwriting modes for entering text. I don't think that
it would be that difficult since many displays are already supported

It has been possible to use Braille input on a display since Voiceover was
implemented. This works independently from any screen input mode. The onscreen

Understood. I was thinking it would be handy to enter the first few
letters of an app's name on a home screen with a braille display,
verses having to search each screen or find a certain app which may be

Hi,
A reasonably quick way to search for an app and open it is to make sure focus
is anywhere other than the status bar. Then type Space with dots 3-4-5-6. This
opens Spotlight. Type a few characters and press Enter. Press Space with Dot 4
a few times, and you should reach the app you want.

I know what the OP is saying though, and no you can't. He is asking if he can
now use the display's keyboard to search for and open apps on the home screen
like the on-screen braille or handwriting modes allow. Unless I missed
