1. Open Mail settings
2. Click on the Gmail account
3. Just below the Gmail account heading, there is a button labeled with

Have you checked not just Settings > Sounds > Mail, but specifically check what
you have under the sound button in Settings > Notifications > Mail. Whatever
you set there takes priority over the Settings > Sounds > Mail slound.

My husband wants to set up his e-mail on his SE 2020 Iphone. I don't use mail
on my phone, so I need to know how to get started to either do that for him or
help him do it.
Do I just go into mail in settings and start there? I didn't find anywhere to
enter his e-mail address.
Please let us know if you do find a solution, since I have experienced
it as well in the Mail app. I have a Bluetooth keyboard but often
forget to use it with my phone, even if it could improve things. So
I'm using gestures on the phone. It is an annoying bug/issue, but not
