Hi, I deleted a ton of email. Now on the home screen, the amount of new email is decreasing very slowly. It took about a half hour to tell me I had only 6 unread emails. How do I fix this, or is this a bug? I'm running an iPhone 6 s plus and 9.1. I hope I explained it okay. I went into

Hey Richard, Thanks so much for posting this fix as I have mail notifications turned off as I do not want a notification every time I get a mail message. Turning it on and turning on the badge count did the trick and it says mail notifications is still turned off, so hopefully this will work.
