They can be as long as you have storage on your phone. I believe a minute of recording in the voice memos app takes up about 2 Mb, so a half hour recording would take up about 60 Mb, an hour 120 Mb, 10 hours 1.2 Gb etc. I would, however, look at something like Dropvox (note, "Dropvox" with a "v"

I definitely second Sighard's recommendation of DropVox. It's the only app that I use now to record memos. It's super easy to use. I gave up using the stock voice memos app when I began to have issues syncing the memos via iTunes. There were memos that wouldn't sink, and I got a lot of
