You are right about rail been faster to read once it’s on the containers. The
big advantage to the pen friend is that a sighted person can do the whole
business. They can do it when they have time, not when you both have time, so
you can make the braille

i just used Seeing AI to recognize 5 different boxes of tea this morning.
The trick is to start a good 12 inches away from the can and move slowly toward
the can.
The bar code is usually near the seam of the label on the lower half of the can.
