If you do not want those rotor languages, flick up to delete and double tap.
You do not need other languages/voices unless you want them.
The only one you need is under speech, voice.

Hi
Richard,
Ok under rotor languages, it says English Australia Karen button actions

and it says selected. I already turned off the language
Hi Andy,
Thanks for the suggestions. We did try changing the batteries, and that did
not help. The only switch we found has the positions labeled “E” and “G”. I
have no idea what that means, but we tried changing it from where it was set at
“E”, and it made no difference.
Thanks.

Hi Jim,
I haven't tried the city guides, but have you tried flicking left and right
with three fingers? Maybe they scroll horizontally. If not, you could try
toggling VoiceOver and swiping with one finger.

Hi Richard,

One thing to remember, Apple uses the word language, to also refer to voices.
It sounds like you have at least two other voices set.
Also, unless you turn it off under VoiceOver speech settings, when using the
default voice if another language is encountered on the web or even in an
email,
on the inside of the unit that contains the batteries, there is a 2 position
cycling switch. You should make sure that it is set to the short cycling
position. This will make sure that the AC or heating unit runs for a shorter
period of time. With some installations, the batteries provide the
Hi Richard,
I only have the one language as my default. I’ve never added language to the
rotor either. Although, in the rotor a female’s voice says English default, I

another female’s voice says US English. I think I

Hi Pam,

difficult that would be. I had problems turning off the schedule. It seems to

You cannot remove language from the rotor, it appears if you have more than one

So, if you only have the default voice, my understanding is, you should not see

Hi, Carolyn. You can do this, but it is tricky. I usually use a

it helps to use a male voice if speaking to a female and vice versa.

Hi Pam,
It's only accessible via the ADT Pulse portal / website and manually of
course. It doesn't speak, a couple of the buttons are hard to detect and it
has a bunch of useless settings that we'd never use. In short, it does work
fine since when we're only at that house a few times a year,
Note that the compass is going to report every, tiny, tiny, movement you make.
So if you are traveling due south at 180 degrees and you slightly turn the
phone or take a step a little bit off, you will hear something like 179 degrees.
Are you working with an Orientation and Mobility Instructor?
You can do all those things, but I would not try them without using some kind

You will not be able to dictate a text, but you can type one and of course read.
If you look up a contact, and you want to text it to the person, you can simply
select share contact and then

Hi Traci,
Quite often, the air conditioner stays on much longer than it needs to. For

indicate that the temperature we set it for has been
This is getting just a little bit off topic, but Pam, I’m curious what is the
problem you’ve been having with the VIP thermostats? I used it fine with no
problems, as far as I know of, for 10 years. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get it

Hi Mike,
We have had a VIP Talking Thermostat for years, well actually we have probably
had three or four of them due to issues with them. It is again not working
well, so we are now investigating smart thermostats.
Just curious, which smart thermostat do you have, and what do you find less
Hi Tracy,
We have 2 homes and we have a smart thermostat in 1, and a VIP talking

VIP Talking Thermostat because of its ease of use and the speaking

We have a Honeywell model that works quite well. The schedule section of the
app is difficult/not worth using with VoiceOver.
But, Once the program is set, you can do adjustments quite easily.
The Ecobee looks like a tech geeks dream but who wants music coming out of
their thermostat, really?
Well, if the Zoom IQ 7 is still available, it is a very good microphone,
however, you have to plug an earphone into the microphone's 3.5 MM jack to hear

I'm curious about the Shure MD5 microphone that was mentioned, I

The question has not been asked, and I did not see it in the original post,
what kind of recording is the microphone going to be used for?
The Zoom IQ microphones are stereo and fairly small and work best on a phone

Hi,
Does anyone have experience with using the EcoBee thermostat, either with the

Thanks,
