Please don't take this the wrong way, I think what your team is doing
is great, and overall I love the new version. I just can't help but
think that this new remote cursor behaviour is a step backward from
what we had at 3.3.3.
I am (sort of) willing to put up with the lagging remote cur

If running it on display 0, you need to allow TCP traffic on port 5900. If you
want to use the Java applet to connect, you must allow traffic on port 5800 as

I am trying to provide support (remote admin) for another Mac via VNC, but
am having problems.
AOL on both ends the server is running MAC OS 8, the viewer is running 9.
AOL does seem to be using a proxy, but using NetMonitor, I can ping the VNC
Server.

On a Microsoft box it takes control of the console. On a Unix/linux
system, it gives you a virtual console, not the one with a monitor. If
you want to control what is on the monitor, you will have to use a
different program, or vncviewer into the localmachine
Would the developers of realvnc please tell us what the default settings
the installer does. And what the command line switches are and what
options they choose.
Or better still, let us download the installer script file. (the file
you use in innosetup to compile the setup)

The problem you are experiencing with Wake On LAN is caused by Windows
starting a power-saving screen-saver before putting your machine into
standby mode. WinVNC does try to kill the screensaver when it receives
a connection from a client, which I would have hoped should work. (
