Does anyone know of a more recent implementation Win2VNC than version
1.0 (http://www.hubbe.net/~hubbe/win2vnc.html), particularly one that
works well on a dual head Win2K system? x2x/x2vnc/win2vnc is a good
idea, but seems Win2VNC 1.0 seems a bit too buggy for serious use. In

Hello,
While reading an article at http://www.linuxjournal.com/article.php?sid=5499
It refers to starting the VNC server at boot up, and editing the passwd file.
I prefer the setup as on http://www.sourcecodecorner.com/articles/vnc/linux.asp.
It obsoletes roughly all
That means your VNC server is running in WinME (in a laptop), right? And the
others laptops are running WinME too? Have you compared the screen's colour depth
amongst your laptops? Are they the same? Or do you have a special mouse pointer

You mean you want to run the Java viewer as an application instead of an
applet?
Well, first of all, I don't think you could because in general rule, an applet
is programmed a little differently than an application. Technically, an applet

Dear All,
A couple of days back I posted a problem that I was having where an

When I tried to start it.
Thanks to Miro who suggested -cc 3 -depth 8 would fix things. - The
application now starts fine.

You need port-forwarding. Please read the FAQ and manual:

I have been searching around the web for various VNC software and have
found that there are several different types. These are realVNC,
tightVNC, and ultraVNC. From the perspective of saving network
bandwidth, which of these would be good to try? Which of these are very
stable in term of using
I have used WinVNC's java browser to access my computer at home from
different computers at work and miscellaneous places. I use it to check my
email, see if anyone has IM'd me, etc. and sometimes I use it when I need
files or something from my home PC. Would Windows XP's Remote Desktop work
VNC 4 writes connections to event log in WinNT platforms. For Unix, I don't
know. For Win9x, maybe you need to specify a log file?

Here is my bugfix for the problem:
The idea is to set a flag when the authentication result was sent and to
inhibit the problematic server message funktions sending disturbing bytes.
The presented method might be quite stupid but so I didn't had to dive in
that deep of the code.
I hope in coming
Oh! I was jumping too fast and I was wrong. It wasn't the vncviewer.jar file
that you need, but those class files. Sorry. I was actually running that command in
the directory containing both the jar and the class files :p

Indeed! You're correct. Thanks for making me discover something new :-)
OK, back to this problem. Actually, that paragraph in that page isn't clear.
First, as all java binary codes, you need either a class file or a jar file.
You need actually a vncviewer.jar file.

Ok.
This means every user that needs to have its own VNC connection needs:
1. The .vnc directory created in their Home directotry
2. same goes for the passwd file
3. Does the xstartup file in the Root directory works for everybody, or does it need
to be 'copied' to other user's home dir as

I had sent a second mail immediately after that. You actually need all those
*.class files.
You don't need to compile anything.
The main function is inside the vncviewer.class file.

Every user needs their own settings. Period. Their own passwd file,
their own xstartup file, their own display number, everything.

I was just wondering if there is a help file on what each source code
