Are you running a GUI on VMS? Most VMS is CLI. For this you just need
to enable either SSH or Telnet. There really is no need for a VNC
Client for VMS.
Which GUI are you running if any ?

Why are you using VNC to remotely access a Windows 2000 Server machine
when you could simply enable Terminal Services in Remote Admin mode and

closed when using nmap.

made sure the service was started, and winvnc is showing up in the task
manager. Even though I see it running in the task manager, I'm still
getting an error saying "No existing instance of WinVNC could be contacted".

Our organization is implementing a firewall and has not made a VPN client available.

I am trying to use the VNCviewer
(vnc-3.3.6-x86_win32_viewer.exe) in a Windows
environment. I have an application I am developing in
Java, and would like to be able to launch the viewer
from my gui. The code I am using to execute the
program is:

still allows me and other users to change the pwd and other settings .. i'm
doing this in the winvnc3 folder under HKEY_CURRENT_USER

While running WinVNC server with ConnectPriority set to 2 - Refuse new
connections, Macintosh clients are able to connect to the server and share
the connection.
This was accomplished using the Mac VNC Viewer (version 3.3.3) on Mac OS X
connecting to a Windows NT 4.0 VNC Server (version 3.3.3r9
e same key, but that prevents it
from running at start-up. I hope that this helps.
