Am interested in buying a 'hair dryer' DP Mac but don't want to put up with the noise. (I use 9.2 a lot ­ and I know the next ones will not boot with it). What are the chances that Apple will fix this problem in its current incarnation? Or will they wait till the next model release? Not interested

jpg will never go away, is non-proprietry, is great value in terms of space:quality ratio. JPG is actually very impressive when used at full quality. Also there are a range of jpeg veiwers already floating around, many of them free. "FREE" isn't a word that pops up much when dealing with propriet

Hi Phil What you are trying to do is fairly standard and there is no reason it shouldn't work. Try creating a new network location for your settings on each machine. Make sure you then select that location from the Apple menu - don't leave it on Automatic (not sure how the Automatic location work

USB mouse response (lack of) on G4 with 9.x

I've noted this on a couple of computers, both G4 towers. At boot up the mouse will not respond at all, not slow, not comes good after a few minutes, just plain old does not respond Mouse has power as the tracking light is on. Disconnecting and reconnecting the mouse makes it active again
