Hi Pat, Also check your permissions on the drive for which you can't change the icon. Highlight your HD - then File > Get Info & under 'Ownership & Permissions' it should be 'Read & Write'. I have changed the HD icon on all my previous computers, iMacs, iBooks, PowerBook, MacMini & my lat
