Problem Extension

Hello everyone, I have just installed latest update, so is it possible to create a system disk, on a dvd, similar to one that comes with a new machine, from current system? So if all goes wrong, er never has... I could just do a fresh install. (Yes, I use Time Machine.) MacBook Pro 2.6

Thanks for that addition Stuart. Yes, my broadband line speed is around 4.5 Mbps (although I can increase throughput with iGetter or similar) so 802.11g speeds are going to be plenty adequate for that. I'm looking forward to finally using wireless after several Macs that didn't have it.

Hi Brian, Download the OS X 10.5.8 Combo update and then that will update any version of OS X 10.5 to OS X 10.5.8 I always keep the latest Combo versions, so I can update quickly without going through installing all the updates on a machine.

why not make a bootable clone with 'xupport' or 'super duper' onto a harddisk, that allows you to plugin the hd and boot from there in case of a crash, it also would serve as backup (no time machine needed) just have some disk utilities installed before you create the backup there are
