MacBook Pro semi-frozen?

2010-11-02 Thread David Noel
Hi, my MacBook Pro seems semi-frozen, how to I force a restart? Apple menu does not offer drop menu, holding power button at top right for 30 seconds has no effect. With my iMac, I'd have disconnected the power at this stage, but can't do this with a laptop. What to do, please? David Noel Nov 2

Hi Noel, Need some information on why the MBP froze. Have you been experiencing freezes? What were you doing when the MBP froze? Were you using an Application that froze? Try these keyboard Commands: Control-Eject: The dialog box "Are you sure you want to shut down?" appears with options to Re

Hi, thanks for the suggestions. I did take the MBP off mains, as I had the same thought as Pete. I've only had the machine a few weeks, and may be missing something obvious. Is there an eject button, if so where? I thought the button on top right was the power button. When the machine went funny,

Hi Noel, Hi Noel, The Power Button is on the Unibody NOT the Keyboard , top right of body. The Eject Key on the keyboard is the top right hand side ( ⏏ ). What MacBook Pro is it? Perhaps download the Manual if you don't have the little book that came with your MBP.

Hi, Thanks to Ronni and Peter. This took ages. The hardest part being that to effect the changes I had to locate the original USB 2.0 cable that came with the HD as no changes could be done on the normal firewire connection only the USB 2.0. I didn't need to instal VCD Manager though. Just in

Hi Matt, Glad to hear you have 'hidden' the 'WD SmartWare VCD' Disc icon from your desktop. Most people tend to just ignore it especially as you can't actually delete it from the drive (as it is in the Firmware), only 'Hide' it. But, Like you, it annoyed me sitting on my Desktop, so I just had
