my tale of woe was that my time capsule power supply died. This was a Known Bug with the earlier ones. Applecare warranty on the imac so all good it was replaceable. but. They would not let me have my data back. I asked them whether I could buy back the HDD which had nothing wrong with it.

absolutely... but you still have to bend forward because your screen is lying flat unless you get one of those little stand up brackety things, what a hassle, why use 3 gadgets when you could have it all in one in a laptop... each to his own. For me the ultimate machine will be a 17 inch macbook
