Hi Peter,
If your MacBook Pro won't wake when you open the lid, or you press any key, or
mouse click.
Have you Reset the System Management Controller (SMC)?

Hi Rod
Take your time before you decide as the base 15 with retina display is cheaper
than the 15 2.6 and the hi-res screen would really help with the things you
are doing. External HD's are very cheap and you could get a couple and rotate
them as part of a back up scheme. But really I think
Hey Rod, don't forget you can salary sacrifice this and save your tax $$ so you
can option up or save money for the next grumpy trip.

I had an undeliverable email notification from: Mail Delivery System
mailer-dae...@icp-osb-irony-out9.external.iinet.net.au with the problem 5.1.0
Unknown address error 550-'5.1.1 and the email address of my wife's old big

It ends with suggesting that I sent
Hi Tom,
Just a thought. I take it you are with iiNet now, hence the iiNet mailer
daemon. You may have your wife's old address in an address book somewhere and
inadvertently sent it an email. Which email account was the notification
directed to? Have a look in the sent folder of that account
First you are correct I have been with iinet for about five years
second there are no copies of that address on my machine and I cannot find it
in spotlight or in address book
third mail was switched off at the time because we were at work.

Hi all,
firstly, massive disappointment over demise of 17 MacBookPro...

iFixit found changes to the new MacBook Pro make it ” the least repairable

Hi Carlo
Though I agree with you on the screen, and I'm not arguing that point that it's
a great machine,.. (not matter how many times you quote that comment) :oP my
concern (and I use that term lightly,..more of a query perhaps),..is how the
screen will handle upsizing or scaling or whatever
I have had an entirely different experience with my 17-inch Early 2009 MacBook
Pro. A screwdriver has never breached its case. I bought it at the time with
the best specs I could afford (which did not extend to the fastest processor
available) and it has worked tirelessly for me from that time

maxed out new 17 ivy bridge MBP… if only.
Damn!
Anyone know where I can still get a latest model 17 before they all
disappear? Not sure that the 15, however snazzy it is, will do the job I
need.
I guess I'll have to have a look at one with retina display and see what it
is like.

Just to qualify the laptop/s that is, there were 4 different models over the
years. Not one dud ;-) and yes they were all repaired, but if parts are glued
or bonded then fixability could be an issue, batteries don't last forever and
HDs do fail, though the SSD will remove that issue.

Hi Shane
You should you be able, if there is stock still around. They were pretty
constrained before discontinued.
One of the wholesaler I know has none left in Australia.
I'm checking for a client to see if anyone has some tomorrow to source it for
him if they do.
But I think thats the only
Hi Ronni,
Please, get some sleep!!! You need it to cope with the eventual tidy
up, etc, etc. I hope your house is unscathed.
Many thanks for your suggestions. SMARTReporter advised a faulty TM
backup disk, so I'll try as soon as TechTool Pro 6.0.4 has finished
scanning. So far only the 1.5GB
Hi Tom,
I don't suspect the email has been sent from any of your computers.
You would need to look at the Long Headers in the email to see where it has
been sent from.
If you are not using the BigPond email Account, delete the Bigpond email
account from all your computers?
Cheers,
Ronni

One thing I do with spam is bounce it. I think that process may cause the
curious email because there mostly no response back to me.

Hi James,
Disconnect the Time Machine backup Drive from your MacBook Pro.
See if you can then shut down MBP as normal - Shut Down
If Time Machine was backing up when you forced a Shut Down, it could cause some
corruption on the Time Machine backup.
Get the Shut Down process sorted first,
Hi Bill,
Bouncing spam is the worst thing you can do with it. Junk mailers use phoney
email addresses, so bounced mail never goes back to the originator. However,
the bounced mail often goes to an innocent victim.
If you think spam is bad, wait until your address gets spoofed and you start
I never do that Bill. If a human has triggered the bounce they know it is a
legitimate email address and you're likely to get more.
My spam filters in Mail app filter off spam, many per day. After a month they
get automatically deleted. Mail app just does it all automatically for me.
Thansk. I thought that was a safe way.

Hi Tom,
In a previous reply to you I mentioned you would need to look at the Long
