Hi and Happy New Year to All.
My first request for the year; I have a 200 Meg Mp4 movie clip that I want to
send to family members but my mail server will not accept a file of that size.
How do I reduce it to a suitable size (about 26 Meg maximum)?
Thanks in anticipation

How about Dropbox (FOC) or You Send It?

John, there are probably transcoding applications (iMovie perhaps, Adobe
Premiere, etc) but if you uploaded it as a private movie to YouTube might be an
option. Would take some upload time and download time for others though.

Thanks to everyone for their input. I think I may follow the Dropbox option
and see how that goes. Apparently, it is possible to create a link so anyone
given that link can view and access the pertinent data.

Hi John,
I was going to suggest the same as Bill.
Upload your Video file to your 'Dropbox Public folder', send the private link
to your family members and they then download the Video to there computers.
If you don't already have dropbox you can use my invite link below which will

Hi again John.
Your Dropbox folder contains a special folder called Public.
Any file placed in this Public folder gets its own URL. (You can get this URL
via the Dropbox item in the contextual menu).
Now, all you have to do is send this URL (via instant messaging or email), and

Hi Ronni,
just checking on Dropbox and if my understanding is correct using your invite
link would give you and extra 500meg of dropbox space. Is that correct? If so
would you like me to use your invitation link too?

Hi Yvonne,
Yes, that is correct you receive 2GB and I receive 500MB.
So please use that link, as I would very much appreciate more space in my
Dropbox. ;-)
Any other members who do not have Dropbox installed please feel free to use my
link below.
I think John already has Dropbox installed on
Hi all,
In actual fact, it is even better than Ronni says - everybody signing up to
Dropbox gets 2GB free but using a referral link also gives the person
signing up an extra 500MB - so you actually get a free 2.5GB to start.
It also gives the person supplying the link an extra 500MB (these

Hmm.
Have the mailing list settings been changed? I don't think I've changed
mine.
As others have probably seen, my emails are not getting through. I'm
getting this message.

Now I have ML I don't seem to have that option and I cannot find how to add it.
Is it not available or am I suffering fem temporary blindness ?

Hi everyone
Dropbox is great for sharing things. I use it as a collaborative file
share with others. However, there are 2 'gotchas'.
1. Just because I have 10Gb space doesn't mean other users can access
all of this. A normal user still only has 2Gb. The folder for each
group you
Hi Everyone,
Just clarifying what Rob has mentioned below ONLY applies to a Share Folder.
NOT the Public Folder that public links can be shared and accessed by anyone,
not just Dropbox users.
