AirDrop works on MacBook Air (Late 2010 or newer).
In a Finder Window click AirDrop - what do you have selected in the menu Allow
me to be discovered by: ?
You DONT need File Sharing turned ON to use AirDrop!
AirDrop is more of a temporary opening of the security gates than File

MBA. What I have at the bottom of the Airport screen on the MBA
I'm having the same problem with my BRAND new MacBook Air so it's not the
model.
Would love to fix it but no luck with this.
