Hi again Susan, If turning off "Enable Firewall Logging" doesn't solve your sleep issue (as suggested in my previous email). Try System Preferences > Energy Saver - Sleep and uncheck "Put the Hard Disk(s) to sleep when possible". Let's hope one of these allows you to see the soft pulsating

Hi Susan, Yes, the G5s are well known for having sleep issues. I've had another thought (yep, I have them occasionally). Try going into System Preferences > Security > Firewall - click Advanced and turn OFF (take the tick out) Enable Firewall logging. See if your G5 will sleep now. Cheer

Hi Susan Hate to add a sour note, but I've recently replaced a 3+ year old 20- in G5 iMac with a cooked motherboard. The first symptoms were odd behaviour with sleep patterns and mysterious awakenings and shut- downs. Apparently this is a known issue. The new 24-in is great. Cheers Mike On

Hi Severin, Some programmes perform periodic activity which (intentionally or not) will restart your Mac's time-to-sleep timer. For example, downloading a large file will prevent your disk from going to sleep and thus prevent your computer from going to sleep. Continuous file sharing and internet
