Hi Julie
It’s highly unlikely it came from your machine at all. More then likely it came
from someone else’s infected computer, but spoofs your email address. This is
how virus “work around it”.
When a computer gets infected, what some viruses will do is just go through the

Hi All,
Hoping someone can enlighten me ….
I had a call from one of our contractors today saying that he had received an
email from me yesterday, which was not for him. When I checked it out, I
didn’t send him an email. He said something similar happened last year.
Could this be a virus ?
Hi Tim & Rob,
Tim just jogged my memory ;-) I’ve never used Thunderbird but I vaguely
remember a client used it for awhile, but had problems and I changed him over
to Apple Mail.
I found a note I had kept on file regarding gmail and Thunderbird.

Rob,
If you can receive his emails, how about replying to him. Not you creating a
new email, but replying to one he has sent you.
Perhaps reply using your gmail account, then your iinet account.

Hi Ronda
Sorry about the delay - life has interceded.
I use Thunderbird, but I get no message about inability to deliver.
I looked at the 'all headers' info, and it didn't tell me much...
Still a mystery...

Hi Tim
I have the right email address from my address book.
I got a colleague with a Gmail account to send a message to the 'problem
person' and it got to him...
I'm thinking of getting the 'problem person' to try his webmail and see
if he receives messages from me.
I'll keep investigating.
Hi Rob,
You mentioned “we tried a direct, person-to-person email, and this also failed.”
Did you send this email using Apple Mail, if so did you receive any error
message as to ‘why your message could not be delivered to his address?’
Or look in you sent mailbox. Locate the sent message - Go to V
Has he sent an email to your gmail account so that you are sure you have his
right email address. I realise you’ve had success using a different send
account, but not knowing all the details, I’m just wondering
Can you get someone else you know with a gmail account to send him a message

Initially, they were group emails sent through Mailman (and I checked
the settings). Once it was clear that this failed, we tried a direct,
person-to-person email, and this also failed.
I don't think I've BCCed him at all.
Thinking about it, the person with the admin rights to the Mailman

Hi Rob,
Are these group emails... bcc‘d? Or emails sent to only one recipient?

This is a quite obscure problem, and not directly related to Macs. I'll
understand if there is no response... :-)
I have a gmail email account, which works fine (for most people). There
is one person (a Windows user) who never receives my Gmail emails.
Everybody else does!

Hi Laura,
For some reason when I replied to your WANUG post it replied to your email
address and not to WAMUG mailing list as it should have.
Thanks for letting us know your results. If you are happy using all POP mail
accounts that is fine, it is your choice.

Hi Ronni
I am aware that you like to tick off problems as they are solved.
Before following your very excellent instructions to change POP accounts to
IMAP, I decided to have one more try at returning to my original iinet email
address which had originally appeared to be the problem.
As far
Hi folks, hoping someone may be able to help with a problem one of the
designers at my work is having. His Mac mail program is not responding when
he opens it and emails are not downloading. This has been the case since he
downloaded a security update today.
He has contacted our server and they s
I know with MS Outlook you need to use either the 'Redirect' function, or
'Forward as Attachment', in order to retain full graphics and html
formatting. If you just use Forward or Reply, it doesn't work.
