There is the time Melissa Stevens and her dad (Uncle Fester) tried to con
Barney out of money by claiming that Barney proposed to Melissa.? Of course,
Uncle Fester turned out to be her husband. Andy let them go but told them they
had to leave Mayberry. They could have been charged with fraud,
Not only did Andy carry Flora out of the woods, he also picked up Goober and
threw him off the fishing dock when he and Warren tried to stop Andy and
Helen from going out in the canoe. Goober is a pretty good sized guy so
Andy's back must have been in great shape then.

I would say that the worst crime that went unpunished was committed by Andy
himself when he made Barney eat Aunt Bee's kerosene cucumbers. We're talkin'

He judged the situation and person's motives, such as the young couple
leaving the baby, and determined the right course of action to take or not
to take. I do think he could have been a bit harder on Melissa and her

Speaking of crimes Andy let go, how about the time the woman driver in the
convertable slammed into the back of the Mayberry police car while Goober was
sitting in the front seat? Andy told the woman to go on since you have learned
your lesson. I would hate to think what would happen in
