My votes: Ed Sawyer in Stranger in Town. Reta Shaw in Convicts at Large. Michael J. Pollard as Barney's cousin Virgil. Jerry Van Dyke as the banjo playing deputy. Malcolm Tucker (of the Buffalo Tuckers) in Man in a Hurry. There are many more but I don't have my bucket handy. -- Walter Ted

Snow

2014-01-25 Thread Chuck Talley
I know that Mayberry was in the South but can anybody remember a TAGS episode where they got a big snowstorm or even had snow on the grass. Looking out my window reminded me of this. Or maybe freezing temperatures? I just shoveled the driveway and it is cold. Maybe they just don't know what

TV at the Taylor home

2014-01-25 Thread Albert A
I'm so glad that Andy got Aunt Bee that new freezer when he called the man. A bunch of us are going over there to watch the Super Bowl and it would be awful to watch the big game if Andy's TV were going crazy, and the picture being crooked and falling down the stairs an' such.

Mr Smith in Andys Rival

2014-01-25 Thread Patricia Haley
Mr. Smith in Andy's Rival I think Andy's jealousy was first instigated by Aunt Bee. At the start of the episode Andy is relaxed and doesn't seem to show any jealousy at all towards Frank, and even comments on Franks sophistication without emotion to Bee. Bee keeps at it. Then Goober

piano playing in Mayberry

2014-01-25 Thread Elizabeth Busby
Paul, I am a piano teacher and often notice that when the piano is being 'played', hands tend to be at the wrong side of middle C for the notes that are heard. Some appear to really be playing, like when Andy plunked out a few, Opie attempting to play and Flip Conroy. Elizabeth in Ga

Who called Andy stupid?

2014-01-25 Thread Paul Mulik
Floyd said that Andy was pretty stupid when he was a child, because he used to try to eat shaving cream, mistaking it for ice cream. How even a small child could make such a mistake seems preposterous, as soft serve ice cream did not exist until 1938. It would have been more believable for the

Referring to an Outstanding Single Performance I would have to highlight Dick Elliot's performance on The Woman Speeder during Mayor's  Court when the female defendant charms the socks  off the Mayor. At one point during Andy's witness interrogation Barney stage whispers Aren't we making too

Sitting on the same side of the booth

2014-01-25 Thread Paul W. Pyle
Thelma Lou said The conflict is this episode was believable except for that one detail. It's easier to talk to someone when you are face to face, so the only reason for sitting side by side is for closer physical contact. I don't know if it's a regional thing or not, I don't know if it's

I know that Mayberry was in the South but can anybody remember a TAGS episode where they got a big snowstorm or even had snow on the grass. I don't think there was ever any snow in Mayberry, but in the Christmas episode they tried to indicate that it was cold out. Everybody was wearing coats

Patty's observations

2014-01-25 Thread Janet Anderson
The lesson here is not so much about jealousy so much as it is about how others can self project onto you, causing you to think or behave in the way they do, but only if you let them. Patty, I think you've made some very good observations there! I am seeing the episode in a different way now.

Quiet Sam?

2014-01-25 Thread Janet Anderson
I know, maybe I'm being picky but Thelma Lou really hit a sore subject with me :-) Thelma if you were here I could go on for hours about this subject. Didn't know you were so sensitive about that, Quiet Sam. (I mean spirited--you're a very spirited person!) If you could go on for hours, you
