Not to make a "moulage" out of the Nurse Mary case (as opposed to the Sam
Becker case), I have always assumed the character was the same for both
episodes, because the Mayberry.info website identifies the character in The

I seem to recall reading that many of the writers
drew from their memories and experiences growing up in the 20's and 30's
and incorporated these into the storylines.
Andy actually said once the show was intended to be set in the 30's; he must
have meant culturally.
