Everyone mentions sliding across the front seat from the passengers side as
being unusual.
I agree it is unusual here in this neck of the woods even back in the 50's and
60's.
I keep thinking I hope when they slide across that seat that they are not
wearing
anything wool. Can you imagine the
Wasn't the spaghetti, that Howard's mother served Andy, left over from their
supper?
BTW, is it leftovers or left overs? I'm never sure.

I don't think I saw Johnny Cakes mentioned.
Andy was worried that someone might be trying
to steal the recipe.

I have always thought that the bussiest people in Mayberry were the set
builders. Every season a window or door appears or disapears, the heating system
in the court house changes, and shrubery comes and goes. The list goes on and

I don't know if there was air conditioning or not but I've noticed
a board at the base of each window. That board, a broad panel, was
used so when the windows were open the air would be directed towards
the celing. That would cause the air to circulate better. I worked in a

The song Andy and Peggy sang was: Down In The Valley
I agree they did a beautiful job!
The lyrics:
Down in the valley the valley so low
Hang your head over, hear the wind blow
Hear the wind blow love, hear the wind blow
Hang your head over, hear the wind blow
Roses love sunshine, violets love
I'm not real sure but I think picnic is a way some ham is cured.

Thanks to all who wrote concerning my question about the Filling Station
Robbery and the Shoplifter. I guess I will need to get out my thinking bucket
and try thinking a little more next time.
Thanks again and to all: Have a Mayberry Day!

In The Great Filling Station Robbery when Barney sets the camera to take a
picture of anyone entering the front door, isn't the string set to where it has
slack in it when the door is opened? I've watched this episode numerous times
and always try to figure how, when the door is opened to the
Here in our town, the post office sends out an envelope about 3 times a year
and this is an envelope that can be used to order stamps by mail. That is the
way I get my stamps. Just put a check in the envelope, mark what you want and
they are sent back to you in about 3 days. No driving
As hard as it would be to chose a favorite, mine would have to be the one where
Barney tries to quote the Preamble to the Constitution. I don't remember the
title of that episode, but that is a classic, if there ever was one.
Merry Christmas to all TAGS members and best wishes for a happy,
Thanks for the response to my question about the car Andy was riding in when
Malcolm put the lap blanket on him and drove him to the courthouse. I watch
TVLand and they must have cut that part out as I sure missed it, if they showed
it. I have seen this show several times and always wondered
As I was watching the show, the other night, with Malcolm Merriweather, I
noticed that when Andy left for work, and Malcolm drove him, they were in a
regular car. Whose car was this? I don't recall Andy driving anything but
the squad car and Aunt Bee's car was a convertable and Malcolm was
I'm probably behind the times but do I remember correctly that I heard that
Andy is in a new movie coming out? If so, what is the name and what is it
about?
Thanks,

Seems I remember Opie and a girl, that he was trying to impress, {Ms. Crumps'
visiting niece, I think} jumping over a ditch with oil at the bottom. This
was located just to the left of the building, Wally's Garage. I always thought
this was an old time way to change oil and work on vehicles
I've been reading all the comments about how Andy's personality is different in
the color shows of TAGS, and thinking about the situration. If anyone watches
the reruns of Matlock, as much as I do, they will notice that if things don't
go the way Matlock wants them to, he can show a
